“So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees” (1 Kings 18:42).

In the above Bible verse, two individuals with different lifestyles are contrasted. First is Ahab who lived in the plain and spent his life on food and drink. Partying and living a life of reckless abandon to pleasure was his manner of life.

The other fellow was Elijah who usually spent his time before God in fasting and praying. His was an uncommon lifestyle, completely different from the rest of the people. It is not surprising that the experiences of these two men were different. Elijah enjoyed supernatural speed while Ahab’s lot was what was common to other men.

If you want the supernatural, get ready for a lifestyle that is altogether different from what is commonly available on the street. To have an uncommon experience requires that you live the uncommon life. If you live the way they live, you cannot get more than what they get. Elijah went up to Mount Carmel and left the rest of the people down in the plains. That speaks of a separated, consecrated life.

The call to live differently has always been the demand of God for those who desire supernatural experiences. It is a consistent pattern we find all over Scriptures. When God wanted to launch Abraham into the supernatural realm, He got him to separate himself from the rest of the people (Genesis 12:1-3).

This year, you must come out of the crowd and live for God in His sight. If you will not suffer their affliction or die their death, you must commit to the separated life. May you stand out this year. May God distinguish you on all front. May your life gather positive speed and accelerate into all good things.
