“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might” (Ephesians 6:10).

The Bible tells us that “the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits” (Daniel 11:32b). This implies that the knowledge of God can release enough virtue to keep a man strong, safe and triumphant.

But the opposite of these words are equally true. Those who do not know their God shall be weak, and rather than doing exploits, they shall be thoroughly exploited. It means that ignorance of God weakens man and makes him vulnerable to oppression, deception, manipulation and exploitation. No wonder that God testifies: “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6).

It is often said that knowledge is power. Indeed, the knowledge of God confers a measure of divine power upon whoever possesses it (1 John 2:14). This is because having the knowledge of God in you is like having God and His power resident in you. Please note that the knowledge of God referred to here comes through relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God.

What you know determines who you become, what you command and what you attract. Those who know God through Christ are given power to become the children of God (John 1:12). That gives them what it takes to stay strong in the face of the oppression and challenges that confront everyone involved in the business of living in this world. That is why the Bible says the believer has overcome.

To be safe, you need to be strong. To be strong, you must know God. Thankfully, we can access the knowledge of God through the Scriptures. As you seek to know God through His word, may the Lord grant you a revelation of His person and cause you to daily increase in His knowledge.
