“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world” (John 9:5).
As disciples of Christ, we are not only required to follow Him, but to also copy Him and replicate Him on the earth. Thus, if Jesus said He was the light of the world as long as He was in the world, so also must the Christian be able to affirm that he is the light of his environment as long as he is there.
God expects that the believer should be all that Christ was while He physically walked the earth. We are to put on the righteousness of Christ and display it to the world. The Christian is to manifest Christ’s gentleness, passion, and compassion. We are to be the extension of His hand, His love and power. Indeed, the believer is meant to be Christ to the world. For, just as the Father had sent Him has He also sent us to the world (John 20:21).
The Christian is the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Like Christ, he is meant to be a godly influence and make a positive difference wherever he is. Dear Christian, you must let your light so shine before men that they may see your good work and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:13-16). The light of Christ must shine through you so that darkness may no longer reign where you are.
Finally, be assured that no one carries light and retains darkness. As you represent Christ and shine the light of God about, whatever represents darkness in your own life is automatically dealt with. Today, I declare that the power of darkness over you is destroyed forever. The light of God shall shine through you and His glory shall be displayed in you life in Jesus name.
