SUPERNATURAL ABUNDANCE

“And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake” (Luke 5:6).

God’s desire for His children is to have abundance of every good thing. Jesus emphatically declared that He came that we might enjoy abundant life (John 10:10). But that abundance will not be by our power or might. It will be by God’s supernatural orchestration.

Peter had spent all night toiling on the sea but caught nothing. But when the Lord stepped into his ship, there was a shift which produced supernatural abundance. He caught so much fish that his net began to break and the ship began to sink. In the end, it was impossible for him to keep the abundance to himself. He had to call his neighbours to come partake of the abundance that God had brought his way.

However, an important condition to satisfy in order to enjoy supernatural abundance is obedience to divine instructions. First, there was obedience to the Lord when Peter submitted his boat for kingdom service. Then he obeyed the Lord’s instruction in the line of his business to launch into the deep, contrary to known fishing principles. Finally, Peter demonstrated his commitment to continued obedience after receiving supernatural abundance when he left all to follow the Lord, showing us that God must be more important to us than the blessings He gives to us, and the blessings must not stop us from following and serving Him.

As we trust the Lord to bless us with supernatural abundance in every good thing, may He grant us grace to always live in obedience to His commands in Jesus name.
