HEARING GOD FOR YOURSELF (I)

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God” (Romans 8:14).

Every Christian has the capacity to be led by the Spirit of God. The Bible says that when you become born again, you receive the Spirit of God by which you may interact and communicate with God (1 Corinthians 2:12). You can hear God and be led by His Spirit because you are born of His Spirit.

It is totally abnormal when a child cannot hear his father’s voice. It is unfortunate when you as a Christian cannot hear God for yourself and you have to depend on others to know what God is saying about you even in basic things. Of course, it is not as if you cannot hear God through others, but if you always have to depend on others to hear what your Father is saying about you, then there is a problem.

A Christian who does not know how to hear God will suffer many things. He will lack direction and make many mistakes in the journey of life. For the voice of God is the light with which to navigate the dark terrain of this world (Psalms 119:105). It is the compass that gives direction in life’s ocean and your navigational map on the road to destiny. Without access to God’s voice, the righteous will stumble, the holy will grumble and the upright will fumble.

Beloved, you must contend for God’s voice and seek to be led by His Spirit. As we embark on this journey, may the Lord open us to His voice.
