“Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the Lord’s side? Let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him” (Exodus 32:26).
Moses went up the mountain to meet with God and left the people under Aaron’s watch. But by the time he returned, the people had gone into idolatry by constructing and worshipping the golden calf.
Moses became very angry and demanded to know who was on the Lord’s side, that they should come to him. Whereupon, the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto Moses and were shielded from the punishment that fell upon the people. Many died, but those who moved to the Lord’s side were spared.
The lesson to learn here is that on any given matter, always pitch your tent on the Lord’s side because that is where you will find life, salvation and safety. On the other side however, there is punishment, death and destruction. When you are on the other side of the Lord, something is sure to die in you.
The Lord’s side represents the presence of the Lord. That is where you will find abundant peace and fullness of joy (Psalms 16:11). The Lord’s side is where you will find help to obtain victory for every battle, receive the inheritance and possess your possessions. Joshua and Caleb stayed on the Lord’s side and did not perish with the rest of Israel but received the inheritance (Numbers 14:29-30).
Friends, move on to the Lord’s side. That is the righteous side. It is not always the popular side but it is the winning side.
