SHINE MORE AND MORE

“But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day” (Proverbs 4:18).

To be just is to be righteous in conduct and character. It is the state of the redeemed that positions them to walk before God in the light (Psalms 56:13). The just are those who have put on the righteousness of God through Christ. Jesus, the light of the world shines through them as they reflect His righteousness.

The path of the just is as the shining light. The Lord Himself is the pillar of fire that gives light in the way wherein the just travels (Nehemiah 9:12). Also, the light of the Lord illuminates the path of the just through God’s word which acts as a lamp unto his feet and light unto his path (Psalms 119:105). By the light of the Lord that illuminates his path, the just can walk through darkness triumphantly (Job 29:3).

But it is not just the path of the just that shines, and shines more and more. The just himself shines and glows by the power of God. He shines in the midst of a perverse and crooked world because he has the light of the Lord (Philippians 2:15). He shines because he has the life of Christ which is the light of men (John 1:4). The just also shines through good works inspired by the Spirit, which men see and glorify God in heaven (Matthew 5:16).

Beloved, as the Lord continually shines His face upon you, may you shine more and more in righteousness. May you keep shining for God as you impact others with acts of kindness.
