BE NOT AFRAID (II)

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).

Many times, Satan uses fear as a weapon to oppress people and bring them into subjection. But when the presence of God is available to you and is real to you, fear naturally exits your life. God is committed to making His presence available to us because He does not want us to live in fear.

The presence of the Lord is activated in the believer through the Holy Spirit received at salvation (Romans 8:15-16). As stated in today’s Bible verse, God’s Spirit within the believer is not the spirit of fear, but of love, power and of a sound mind. Indeed, where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is total liberty from the spirit of fear.

God’s presence is also activated by His voice, communicated through His words. To terminate Peter’s fears, Jesus spoke and said, “It is I; be not afraid” (Matthew 14:27). In the Gospel accounts, wherever Jesus noticed fear in people, He would utter His voice to dispel the fear, like He did in the case of Jairus (Mark 5:36). God’s voice, energized by the Holy Spirit is full of majesty and powerful enough to arrest fear and cancel its effects on the believer (Psalms 29:4).

Beloved, God’s word is God Himself (John 1:1). When God speaks, His presence is activated by His voice. God’s word is also the word of faith and faith will always neutralize fear. As you confront your fears with the Word, may the spirit of fear lose its power over you in Jesus name.
