IMPROVING YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD (III)

“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8). 

Purity of life is essential for the believer who is serious about improving his walk with God. If you want a progressing, intimate relationship with God, an irrevocable commitment to purity is essential.

God cherishes purity. Everything about Him is pure. His words are pure (Psalms 12:6). His eyes are too pure to behold evil and He cannot look on iniquity (Habakkuk 1:13). Hence, He insists that whoever wants to abide with Him in a close relationship must have pure heart (Psalms 24:4).

Today’s Bible verse says, blessed  are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Seeing God means, among other things, to become acquainted with Him, meet or visit with Him so as to build an intimate relationship. That is why in social conversation, when we say someone is seeing another person, it means they are dating or having a more than casual relationship. With purity, you can see God and have the opportunity to take your relationship with Him from a casual level to a more engaging and effective one.

Finally, to see God could also mean to see Him at work. If you want to improve your relationship with God and see Him at work in your life, pursue purity committedly. And when God is at work in your life, no good thing can be withheld from you (Psalms 84:11). Even in the midst of challenges, all things will somehow work together for your good (Romans 8:28). As we commit to a lifestyle of purity, may God show up strong for us in Jesus name.
