IMPROVING YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD (VII)

Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing” (Psalms 100:2).

One important area of engagement that will enhance your relationship with God is service. Every true Christian must have a point of service. Serving the Lord and His kingdom cheerfully will expand room for interaction with Him and bring you closer to Him.

The fact is, if you truly love the Lord, you will of necessity serve Him. Indeed, love and service grow in direct proportion. The more you love, the more you want to serve, and the more you serve sincerely, the more your love for Him grows. If you love Him better, you will definitely serve Him better.

Again, your hearty kingdom service is a powerful proof of your love for God. Everyone who truly loves will faithfully serve and no one who faithfully serves will be deficient in unfeigned love. It is therefore safe to say that if you want an improvement in your relationship with God, improve in your services to Him.

But it is very important that your service should spring from a good knowledge of the Lord whom you seek to serve. You cannot love God truly if you are ignorant of His nature and ways. Also, you will not be able to serve Him correctly and acceptably if you do not know Him well enough. You should not be like the Samaritans who worshipped and served the God they did not know (John 4:22).

Friends, it is no coincidence that true servants of God are usually the closest to Him. May the Lord give you passion for His service in Jesus name.
