IN EVERYTHING GIVE THANKS

“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

God has very great plans for His children in this new year and He is ready to do everything to bring those plans to pass. But one sure way to see God at work in your life is to be committed to a life of gratitude.

The fact is that thanksgiving to God can never be too much or excessive. If anything, our debt of gratitude to God is so huge that our thanksgiving can only be inadequate, as it often is. Gratitude can never become outdated or out of fashion. Appreciation has no expiry date. Every day, for as long as you are alive, you ought to give thanks to the Lord.

Thanksgiving is suitable for all times. It is always the will of God, irrespective of the circumstances you find yourself. That is the reason why today’s Bible verse says you should give thanks in everything. Indeed, somewhere else in the Bible, we are told to give thanks for all things because God is in control in every situations (Ephesians 5:20). Be thankful because God is always at work for you, never against you, except you are against Him.

Beloved, gratitude must be your daily attitude. Endeavour to practice thankfulness all through the year. Like the Psalmist, purpose to bless the Lord at all times and let His praise be continually in your mouth (Psalms 34:1). Living a life of continuous gratitude will make you pleasing to the Lord and position you for His blessings all year long. May songs of thanksgiving never cease in our mouth.
