SAY AND DO EVERYTHING IN THE NAME OF THE LORD 

“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him” (Colossians 3:17).

The Bible gives several guidelines to help us live in a manner that will make us pleasing to God, be at peace with our neighbours and achieve sustainable progress in life. One of such guidelines is presented in today’s scripture verse.

The good book says whatsoever we do in word or deed should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus. Whatever you cannot say in the name of the Lord should not be said at all, even if it is trending. So also, whatever you cannot do in Christ’s name should never be done, even if everyone is doing it. To be blameless, your words and deeds must always reflect the nature of Christ which His name represents.

You will discover that none of the evils that men do can be done in the name of Jesus. You cannot sleep with another man’s wife in the name of the Lord, neither can a woman prostitute herself in the Lord’s name. Certainly, nobody can in all good conscience steal, defraud or betray others in the name of the Lord because His name is “holy and reverend” (Psalms 111:9). The sacredness and sanctity that characterize His name must therefore be reflected in whatever we put His name to.

Friends, if you are careful to always say and do all things in the name of the Lord Jesus, you will never go wrong. May the Lord help us all in Jesus name.
