SURRENDER MORE (IV)

“And when Saul enquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets” (1 Samuel 28:6).

The opposite of surrender is rebellion. When you fail to surrender to God, you are deemed to be in a rebellious state towards Him. That is why it is very dangerous not to surrender to God in all things. The more we surrender, the farther we are from stubbornness and rebellion.

King Saul was guilty of rebellion and stubbornness because he did not fully obey the Lord’s instructions (1 Samuel 15:23). Subsequently, he sought to know the mind of God concerning the battle ahead of him but unfortunately, he was denied access to knowing the will of God (1 Samuel 28:18).

The fact is that God reveals His will to those who surrender to Him (Romans 12:1-2). He will not show His will to those who have a rebellious posture. Therefore, how much of the will of God you will know will be dependent on the measure of your surrender to Him. Obedience to the commands of the Lord is a critical indicator of our surrender to Him. Your level of obedience is your level of surrender.

Ultimately, your state of surrender will determine how much of God’s power you will have to overcome the world and the kingdom of darkness. Saul could not access power to overcome the enemy because he was rebellious. Jesus gave power to those who surrendered to Him to trample upon all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). The more you surrender, the more power you will access. O Lord, grant us grace to surrender more.
