THE COMPANY YOU KEEP MATTERS

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful” (Psalms 1:1).

The company you keep matters. The type of people you surround yourself with will tell where your life is heading to. In particular, your company will determine how far you will go with God, how much He can do with your life and how well He can entrust you with His blessings.

For example, today’s Bible verse says that the company you keep will play a huge role in determining whether you will be blessed or not. There is no doubt about the fact that Lot became blessed because he associated with Abraham his uncle. God had a covenant of blessing with Abraham, and the moment Lot chose to cast his lot with Abraham, the covenant that assured Abraham’s blessing began to work for Lot.

We can also go further to say that the measure of a man’s blessing will be heavily affected by the nature of his company. When Lot decided to separate from Abraham and company with the men of Sodom, the blessings of God in his life became stagnated. In fact, he began to experience diminishing returns. He became a victim of war and although he was rescued, he soon lost all his herds and herdsmen. By the time he left Sodom, all he had were the clothes on him.

Beloved, please shun the counsel of the ungodly, avoid the way of sinners and the seat of the scornful. Then you will enjoy the enduring favours of the Lord.
