“For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself” (Romans 14:7).
Human lives are interconnected in more ways than we ever realized. What an individual does and what goes on in his life can have great impact on others, including those who are not closely connected to him.
Indeed, the moral failure of a single individual can be costly for the nation and do irreparable damage to the entire world. For example, the failure of Adam created problems for all of humanity. Abraham’s error in bringing forth Ishmael still torments the world till date. The greed of Achan plunged Israel into defeat and took away the lives of valiant men.
The failure of Judas Iscariot which eventually led to his untimely death probably robbed the church of an epistle on finance. We can safely assume that a man who managed the finances of Jesus and that of the most successful, effective and enduring ministry ever should have something to teach us on how to organize ministry finances. But we lost all that because Judas could not control his insatiable greed.
The scripture is very clear: None of us lives to himself. Therefore, none of us should live for himself because our individual lives impact greatly on the lives of others. Always think of others before you take steps. In all things, settle for that which will be for the greater good of the greater number of people.
Remember that people will curse you if you occasion catastrophe for them, but they will bless your memory if your life impacted their world positively. May your life be ever a blessing.
