“And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me” (Genesis 37:9).
Everybody dreams, even though not all of us are aware. A dream could come during sleep or through the imagination. Dreams are indications that we are alive and looking forward to a meaningful future. If you have no dreams, you shouldn’t be alive, for you have no reason to be among the living.
God gives dreams. These could come as visions of the night or as ideas. It is sometimes His way of passing important and helpful information across to man. Many people in the Bible were led by dreams into fulfilment of destiny. God led and instructed Joseph the Carpenter almost exclusively through dreams.
Consider Jacob who needed a breakthrough, having lived a life of frustrations, failures and betrayals. God gave him a dream that changed the whole equation and his life took an irreversible turn for the better (Genesis 31:10). Joseph his son also got hold of the exciting future awaiting him through the dreams that God gave him.
Although we are not told that these people specifically asked God for dreams, it should be noted that there is nothing wrong with desiring a dream from God. Daniel and his friends prayed that God should show them the dream of king Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 2:17-19). Only that you must be careful not to become desperate in your desire for dreams. Above all, you must constantly renew your mind with the word of God so that the enemy won’t take advantage of you.
Today, I pray that the Almighty will give you dreams that will fire you up for success and incredible achievement this year. May the Lord visit you with dreams of greatness. May those dreams also find speedy fulfilment as you run with them in Jesus name.
