Today’s Message – 2022-01-28

Oluwamuyiwa Okuseinde

“I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea” (Romans 16:1).

An important truth we must know as Christians is that we have been saved to serve. Salvation without service endangers the saved. As a Christian, never let any season of your life go without a record of service in God’s kingdom.

There are too many idle hands in the house of God who merely go to church to warm the pews, say amen to prayers that appeal to them, and go home when service is over. God did not save anyone to live such an unuseful life.

Some neglect to serve because they are only interested in serving God from the pulpit. But the truth is that we all cannot be pulpit ministers. God never intended it to be so. Observe that the pulpit itself occupies a very small place in the church. It has no space for all. Even so, the services offered via the pulpit represent only a fraction of what is there to do for God. There is always something for a child of God to do in the house of God.

Today’s Bible passage lists about twenty-nine people who distinguished themselves in service to God in the Church in Rome. Most were not pulpit ministers. Even the pulpit ministers among them were commended for things they did off the pulpit. Please ask God what He wants you to do for Him. Or you can ask your pastor how you may serve God.

Beloved, we are living in a season of recompense. It is God’s hour of reward. Please ensure that you have a point of service in God’s kingdom at all times. No one knows when God will choose to visit with His reward. But I pray for you that whenever the God of recompense visits, may He find you actively on duty at your point of service.
