Today’s Message – 2022-01-29

Oluwamuyiwa Okuseinde

“Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

Prayer is essentially the art of communicating with God. To pray without ceasing therefore, is to maintain a consistent habit of talking with God. That takes you beyond the routine of morning devotion and prayers done in church services.

Praying always keeps you spiritually strong and healthy. Unfortunately, many Christians are limited when it comes to prayers. But if we will experience all the good things that God has designed for us this year, we must do better in matters of prayer.

Praying always also imply that you handle everything prayerfully. Praying about everything gets God involved in all you do, giving you a chance to see God’s hand in all that concerns you. Nothing is too small to subject to prayer, and of course, nothing is too big to defy the power of prayer. The standard Christian approach to life should be, “in every thing by prayer” (Philippians 4:6).

David was a man of prayer. He prayed all manner of prayers in the morning, afternoon, evening and the middle of the night. He once testified that he prayed to thank God for His words seven times a day (Psalms 119:164). Yet, he expectedly had a tight schedule, being the king of Israel. May we also have such high level commitment to prayer.

Admittedly, a dynamic and consistent prayer life is not the easiest thing to maintain. If it were, everybody will be on prayer fire and it won’t be necessary to admonish anyone to pray. Thus, we need God’s help to get to the point of being able to pray always.

The good news is that God is interested in helping us to pray. He has promised to pour upon us the spirit of prayer (Zechariah 12:10). When that spirit comes, prayer ceases to be a burden. Today, may the Lord release upon you the spirit of grace and of supplication.
