Today’s Message – 2022-01-31

Oluwamuyiwa Okuseinde

“Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 5:20).

In the kingdom of God, the right disposition that will guarantee consistent wins is that of thanksgiving. A consistent attitude of gratitude will always endear you to God. God is always on the gratitude side, not on the grumbling and complaining side.

Of course, there will always be reasons and seasons when we don’t feel like being thankful. What motivation for thanksgiving is there when it is disappointment here, affliction there, an insurmountable challenge yesterday, and a dedicated adversary to buffet you today?

But the Bible already foresees such scenarios and insists that the will of God is to be thankful in all circumstances. One reason you should comply with this harmless divine instruction is that sometimes things are not as bad as they seem. Usually, a close and patient look will reveal that even when things are bad, there is sufficient room for thanksgiving. But the devil will not want you to think through your situation before helping you conclude that God is not worthy of any thanks.

Finally, remember that God has already designed it that all things should work together for our good. All things, including the bad and most terrible things cannot but work together for the good of those who love God. If you know that the present challenges you are going through will turn out for your good, you should be willing to be thankful to God in spite of it.

“Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases; who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies; who satisfies your mouth with good things; so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s”.
