“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4).
The word of God is real and true. I have often taken God’s word literally and I have found that God means what He says and says what He means. Always!
Today, if you will believe, the Scripture declares emphatically that you have overcome them. In this context, the word, “them” refers to whatever is contrary to you, whether problems, persons or powers of darkness. According to God’s word, you have overcome them for two reasons.
First, you are of God. If you are born of God, you have overcome (1 John 5:4). People who are born again, who have received Jesus Christ into their hearts as personal Lord and Saviour have overcome because they have received the power to become children of God and are partakers of the divine nature.
Secondly, you have overcome because the Jesus in you is greater than whatever is contending with you in the world. The greatest force of evil is inconsequential because the One who is higher than the highest and greater than the greatest abides in you.
The fact is that as a believer, there is a power at work in you that transcends all other powers in heaven and on earth (Ephesians 3:20). That overwhelming force is the same power that God released to raise Jesus from the dead and settle Him at His own right hand in the heavenly place (Ephesians 1:19-20). God is ever willing to deploy that power for your sake to make you overcome perpetually.
Friends, believe God with me that you have overcome them – all of them. I declare that the afflictions, problems, sicknesses and evil occurrences you have seen up till now, you shall see them again no more forever in Jesus name. You have overcome!
