Today’s Message – 2022-02-07

Oluwamuyiwa Okuseinde

“And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children’s for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the Lord my God” (Joshua 14:9).

God is an absolute Being. He hates half measures in any form. Thus, it is always required that if you want to love Him, serve Him or have anything to do with Him, you must do so with all seriousness. Unfortunately, many people make the choice of following God but never do so with the whole of their being.

In today’s Bible verse, we are told about Joshua who “wholly followed the Lord”. To follow God wholly is to follow Him fully and sincerely (Numbers 14:24). It is to follow Him “with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength” (Mark 12:30). This is reflected in full and complete obedience to the commands of the Lord.

When you follow God wholly, you will remain true to the Lord in season and out of season; both when things are difficult and when life is easy. This factor of consistency means that God can always depend on you any time and in all circumstances. God loves those who follow Him fully and is ever willing to do anything for them.

One important advantage of following God wholly is that you are kept safe from the wrath of God. Many of the children of Israel who left Egypt came under the wrath of God and did not enter the Promised Land because they did not follow God wholly (Deuteronomy 1:34-35). But more importantly, and as illustrated in the life of Joshua, following God wholly grants you full access to your inheritance in God.

It is not enough that you are following God. How you follow Him is equally important. Do your utmost to follow God fully and He also will bless you fully.
