“And the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants, and in the sight of the people” (Exodus 11:3).
One of the amazing things that God does is to make those who should work against you to actually work for you. Two examples of this divine miracle are reflected in today’s Bible verse.
First, we are told that the Lord gave the children of Israel favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Remember that at the time of this event, there was already bad blood between the Hebrews and the Egyptians because of the plagues that the God of Israel had unleashed upon Egypt. It was a great wonder then, that the Egyptians would so much favour the Hebrews that they freely gave them their precious jewels of gold and silver, and whatever other valuables the Israelites demanded. Only God could have engineered this kind of favour.
The second case of unusual favour had to do with Moses and the Egyptians, particularly the palace officials. The Bible says that “Moses was very great in the land of Egypt”. To be great as used here means to be distinguished. Thus Moses was distinguished and honoured in the same land where he had afflicted them and brought untold hardship upon them. Moses was also honoured and distinguished “in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants”, the same people who had witnessed the proclamation and execution of the afflictive plagues that Moses invoked upon their king, people and nation.
Of a truth, when God loves you, He could make your worst enemy to willingly become your greatest benefactor (Proverbs 16:7). I pray for you that as from today, your enemies will not only favour you, they shall serve your interest with all their might in Jesus mighty name.
