Today’s Message – 2022-02-15

Oluwamuyiwa Okuseinde

“For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding” (Colossians 1:9).

Prayer is fundamental to religion. Every faith requires people to pray. Usually, the average person uses prayer to service the bread and butter aspects of life. But prayer is far more than a tool to address man’s concern for material need.

A major reason God has given us the privilege of prayer is to enhance our relationship with Him. That discovery is one of the best things to have happened to me very early in my Christian life. This realization of the purpose of prayer came to me as I engaged myself in the prayers that apostle Paul prayed for the churches to which he wrote epistles.

Found mostly in the introductory part of Paul’s epistles are deeply spiritual prayers designed to enhance our walk with God, deepen our faith, and ultimately take our Christian experience to the next level. Unfortunately, these prayers are generally not a feature of our regular personal prayer time.

For example, few people have today’s Bible verse as part of their prayer items. Normally, people will not pray to be strengthened with might by God’s spirit in their inner man (Ephesians 3:16). Nor would they pray that their love for God may abound more and more in knowledge and in all judgment” (Philippians 1:9).

But these prayers are recorded in the Bible for your adoption to deepen your spiritual experience, strengthen your walk with God, energize your spirit man, and lengthen your prayer life. You will do well to search for them, write them out in a personalized way and pray them daily. There is no telling the immense benefits you will gain if you commit to praying these prayers regularly.
