“Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).

God wants His kingdom to prevail in all realms of existence. In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus made it clear that it is God’s delight that His kingdom should find expression in our individual lives and in our world, not for His sake, but for our eternal benefits.

The first characteristics of the kingdom of God is that the will of God rules. Wherever the Kingdom is established, God’s will prevails. As a citizen of the Kingdom, the will of God must find expression in all aspects of your life, otherwise the kingdom of God is yet to be established in you.

Another attribute of God’s kingdom is righteousness (Romans 14:17). Unrighteousness is alien to the kingdom of God. No true member of the kingdom is yet sold to unrighteousness. Righteousness is doing what pleases the Lord. It is abstaining from sin and doing the will of God from the heart. He who does the will of God is righteous, even as God is righteous.

Other attributes of the kingdom of God found in the Bible are peace, joy, truth, and godly prosperity among others. Disorder is never associated with the kingdom of God because God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33).

But the most unifying attribute of the kingdom of God is embodied in a person, the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the kingdom personified. He is the will of God and His righteousness. He is Himself the Truth, our peace, and our joy. Without Christ, we cannot do the will of God and express His righteousness.

Christ is the summary of God’s kingdom. The kingdom of God prevails wherever He reigns. As you allow Christ to be fully formed in you, receive grace to manifest the kingdom always.
