“Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered” (Hebrews 5:8).
The words in our Bible verse for today were written with respect to the Lord Jesus. We are told that even though He was the Son of God with exclusive rights and privileges, He chose to go through a learning process.
One major lesson from the above is that those who will be great in life must avoid short cuts. Jesus went through process and paid His dues, even though He was God. You too must choose to pay your dues in whatever you do and wherever you find yourself. It pays. Short cuts will eventually cut you short. Choose to go through process.
There are several advantages if you do so. First, you will acquire the training and experience you need to mature, excel and endure. Many cannot last the distance required for their career journey because they did not go through process. Those who take short cuts forfeit the training and requisite experience that should help them endure.
Secondly, going through process builds discipline and character in us. Jesus “learned obedience” because He went through a learning process. That is discipline and character which are qualities that will sustain a man when the going gets tough and rough. They help you keep your head when the environment tempts you to lose your sanity and play dirty.
Thirdly, going through process helps you set credible example for others to follow. Jesus could invite us to learn from Him because He did not take short cuts (Matthew 11:29). Those who take short cuts have nothing to teach others, except to mislead those who are following after them. May our lives not mislead others.
Going through process will certainly require that you put yourself under authority and endure many things. Receive grace today to pay the price so you can gain the prize.
