“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God” (Psalms 42:11).
It is often said that while there is life, there is hope. However, if that expression would not be in vain, the hope we are talking about must be squarely rooted in God.
God is our surest and biggest source of hope. He is the only Being with impeccable integrity. With God, there is always a guarantee that He means what He says and says only what He means. He is not a man that He should lie, neither is He the son of man that He should repent (Numbers 23:19). You can bank on His promises and hope in His words.
Thus, we can say that while there is life, and for as long as God is on the throne, there is hope of receiving help from Him and obtaining His mercy. Let no devil tell you that you are hopelessly helpless or that you are finished while you are still here on earth and God is still God. It is a lie. Be assured that the Lord has kept you alive because He still wants to touch you for a miracle and leave you with a blessing.
The Psalmist had this understanding and therefore began to encourage himself in the Lord, urging his soul to hope in God and cheer up. Like the Psalmist, you should persuade yourself that God cares for you and that you have every reason to keep your hope in God alive.
I pray that things will change positively for you, that God will show up and the enemy shall be defeated. Keep hope alive because God is faithful, and with Him, there is always hope.
