“The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion” (Proverbs 28:1).
Life is warfare. It is for this reason that we need courage to conduct the business of living. If everything is always going on well with us and we are not challenged, afraid or endangered, we would have no need of courage.
However, in the midst of the challenges of life, it is the ability to take courage that will drive away fear, suppress the intimidation of the enemy and resolve the challenges that confront us. The man who wins and overcomes is the one who has learned to temper his fear with courage and be bold in the face of satanic harassment.
Courage comes, increases and is strengthened by constantly facing your fears with the right knowledge and conviction. Without appropriate and adequate knowledge, what is termed courage will be foolishness in disguise. The most appropriate knowledge to conquer any fear is the knowledge of God through His words. That was what gave David courage and the winning edge against Goliath. Deep romance with God’s word is vital to acquiring a courageous spirit.
To be truly courageous, you must also act on the knowledge of God that you have by being obedient to His commands and doing the things that are pleasing unto Him. That state of righteousness characterised by right standing in God and right doing before Him will give you an unusual boldness in every circumstance.
When you know that God is with you and you have His word of assurance, you will be prepared to face any situation with courage and stand strong in the face of tough challenges.
