“That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ” (1 John 1:3).
Today’s Bible verse makes reference to the fellowship of believers with the Father, and with the Lord Jesus. The scripture also speaks of our fellowship or communion with the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 13:14). Both Bible references point to the fact that it is possible for man to fellowship with God.
To fellowship with God is to embark on an adventure of close, purposeful intimacy with Him. It is having a deep, personal connection with Him by maintaining constant communication and abiding daily in His presence to the point that one begins to enjoy His company. David got to that point of enjoying the Lord’s presence and abiding there became the one thing he continually desired (Psalms 27:4).
Fellowship with the Lord has many benefits. First, you get to know God more and more. Constant fellowship with the Lord will grant you access into His secrets which will help you understand His ways better. All of that will produce growth in your relationship with Him and equip you to live a life that is pleasing to Him.
As you spend time in God’s presence, you will also begin to experience definite transformation. As we behold Him, we are changed into His image, from glory to glory by the working of His Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:18). By that transformation, God shapes us into the person He wants us to be. May the Lord help us to create ample time to fellowship with Him.
