“Therefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; There shall none of my words be prolonged any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord God” (Ezekiel 12:28).
God keeps His words and fulfils His promises. His faithfulness and integrity require that He should do so. God will never promise whatever He does not intend to do. In today’s scripture, the prophet Ezekiel was sent to remind God’s people that the judgment prophesied shall be accomplished.
But beyond the issue of judgement, the scripture reminds us about the character of God as someone who watches over His word to perform it (Jeremiah 1:12). Our God confirms the word of His servants and performs the counsel He proclaims through His messengers (Isaiah 44:26). The words of Jesus Christ remains true that till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the scripture till all be fulfilled (Matthew 5:18).
The foregoing gives us the confidence and assurance that God’s word to us, His promises and covenant shall not return to Him void, but shall accomplish His pleasure, and be fulfilled in due season. Moreover, because God is reminding us of these things at such a time, we are able to trust that the fulfilment of prophecies that have come to us in the name of the Lord shall no longer be deferred, but shall be fulfilled without delay.
In this season, there shall be fulfilment of age-long promises. People will suddenly remember you to fulfil their promises. Most importantly, God Himself will remember you and you shall sing a new song.
