WHO CAN UNDERSTAND HIS ERRORS?

“Who can understand his errors? Cleanse thou me from secret faults” (Psalms 19:12).

Who can understand his errors? What a million-dollar question! Usually, we only get to know our errors when they have already been committed. Even when we know, we may not readily understand enough to be able to manage the consequences.

The question remains, Who can understand or discern his errors, so as to preempt them? Who can understand his errors well enough to know what to do to turn things around for good? The true answer is, “Nobody“! This is because the average man is limited in knowledge and understanding. Even those scientific facts we are reasonably sure of today are still subjects of enquiries in laboratories.

The truth is that only God understands man and his errors, because He alone is omniscient and infinite in knowledge. A man may think he is innocent and yet be wrong because God is the ultimate judge (1 Corinthians 4:4). Also, only God can keep us from error. Thus, David prayed that the Lord should keep him from presumptuous sins or errors we commit, thinking we are doing the right thing (Psalms 19:13).

Walking in the law of the Lord is also a sure-fire way to live an error-free life, or at least minimize one’s errors. Such are the incredible qualities of God’s word, that following it will make life a joyful ride. Moreover, those who apply the scripture to their lives have the advantage of being warned or alerted against errors. So great are the rewards of keeping the word of God (Psalms 19:11).

Beloved, let the Lord take charge of your life and live by His words. Then you will have peace and victory always.
