“And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward” (Matthew 10:42).
One clear fact about Jezebel is that she was a dedicated, passionate and committed worshiper of her god, Baal. She cared so much, gave so much and risked so much for the cause of Baal.
No one needed to motivate Jezebel to give. She needed no exhortation on the necessity and value of dedication and commitment to Baal’s kingdom. The prophets did not need to prophesy to her about the rewards awaiting her if she took risks for Baal. What a woman! What a worshipper! Sadly, in the wrong direction.
Ironically, when Jezebel was boasting about Baal, the servants of the Lord had no liver to take risk for the Almighty. Elijah called out, but no one showed up. Yet, seven thousand saints with unbowed knees but sealed lips were underground, afraid to declare the majesty of Jehovah (1 Kings 19:18).
The challenge for us all is clear. Jezebel did so much for her idol; what have you done for your God? She gave for the cause of Baal; what have you given for God’s kingdom? She deployed her financial resources consistently for the ministers of Baal; what have you done for the ministers of your God?
You may not have the capacity to do so much for God, the Church and God’s servants. But like Jesus said, if all you can afford is a cup of cold water, it shall be registered as a positive contribution to kingdom advancement.
