BEWARE OF OFFENCE

“And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men” (Acts 24:16).

One of things you must guard against as a Christian is offence. Offence can be described as a state of displeasure due to the hurting of one’s feelings. God wants you to be without offence because offence will hinder so many good things in your life (Philippians 1:10).

Sometimes we feel justified taking offence at people who hurt us. But that can block our miracles, hinder revelation and restrict the flow of God’s mercy. Offence will block your access to God and His blessings. To harbour offence and at the same time access and enjoy God’s presence is rarely possible. That is why God says we must forgive those who offend us (Mark 11:24-25).

A woman who was seeking God for the fruit of the womb attended a prayer meeting where the eyes of the lead minister was opened to see her belly protruded. However, in her belly were many people in chains. Then the Spirit said that the woman had no place for a baby because she had bottled up so many people.

Offence literally turns you into the enemy of God. To entertain offence against anybody for any reason whatsoever is to mess up your present, endanger your future and hurt your destiny.  Paul understood this and constantly exercised himself to always have a conscience void of offence toward God and toward men.

Friends, let go of people who have hurt you so that your conscience may be pure towards others. May the Lord help us all in Jesus name.
