INVITATION TO THE PLACE OF REST

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

Of the many invitations in the Bible, the one displayed above is about the most popular. In this very personal invitation, Jesus promises rest to all who labour and are heavy laden. There are a few critical facts about this invitation.

To begin with, this was an invitation from the maker of heaven and earth, the maker of all things. It was by Jesus that all things were made (John 1:2). Certainly, He can control anything, and use anything in heaven and earth to fix your matter without anyone querying or questioning Him. Again, it is an invitation from your maker who also can remake you if need be.

This invitation is also from the one who knows all things. There is nothing you are coming with that will shock Him, or will be too much for Him. He is the Lord God of all flesh, nothing is too difficult for Him (Jeremiah 32:27). Besides, the one who issued this invitation has all powers in heaven and earth (Matthew 28:18). Nothing is beyond His power.

Beloved, what kind of rest do you need? Rest assured that it is available today in Christ Jesus. Whether it has to do with your health, marriage, family, finances or your career, Jesus gives an emphatic guarantee that He will give it to you. And this invitation is to all people, irrespective of education, wealth, status, gender, connection, or other factors.

Friends, only Jesus could make such a call. Believe Him. Come to Him and you shall indeed find rest for your soul.
