EXCEEDINGLY GROWING FAITH

“We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth” (2 Thessalonians 1:3). 

The Bible says that we overcome the world through faith (1 John 5:4). Therefore, the more your faith grows, the more the victories you will have in life. This is why every believer should desire exceedingly growing faith.

As we know, faith comes by hearing by the word of God. Hence, your attitude to God’s word will definitely determine your level of faith. But there is something else that can facilitate exceedingly growing faith. It is love.

The scripture says true faith needs love to work because faith works by love (Galatians 5:6). Wherever there is love, faith finds easy expression since every work of faith must be accompanied by the labour of love. Otherwise, such faith will be unacceptable in God’s sight (1 Thessalonians 1:3).

Certainly, we cannot please God without faith (Hebrews 11:6). But God is love, and where love is absent God cannot be present, no matter the level of faith you exercise (1 John 4:7-8). Thus, if you want great faith, exercise great love. If you want to grow in faith, labour to grow in love. When faith is selfish, walking without love, God withdraws, faith is shipwrecked and you will experience defeat instead of overcoming.

The result of an exceedingly growing faith is not just seen in the number of mountains you can move. While mountains must be moved through faith, the proof of a growing faith is abounding charity towards others. May the Lord help us all.
