GOD’S GREAT MERCY IS FOR YOU

“The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy” (Psalms 103:8).

God is great. He is not just great in name and power, He is great in His love, goodness and kindness. Indeed, everything about our God is great. Of particular importance in this message is the greatness of His faithfulness and mercy.

In the midst of his ‘lamentations’ and tears, the prophet Jeremiah was still able to confess the greatness and newness of God’s faithfulness and mercy (Lamentations 3:22-23). Talking about the greatness of His mercy, the Psalmist declared that it is as high as the heaven is above the earth (Psalms 103:11). As today’s scripture makes it clear, God is merciful and plenteous in mercy.

It is good to know that the greatness, richness and abundance of God’s mercy is directed to the sons of men. We are the primary beneficiaries of God’s great and plenteous mercy. This is so because of the great love wherewith God has loved us (Ephesians 2:4). Think of that again: God’s mercy toward us is great because His love for us is great.

Finally, our text says the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. The Psalms say that repeatedly, that God’s mercy endures forever. This means that the mercy of the Lord never expires. For as long as a man is willing to benefit from the mercy of the Lord, it shall be made available for those who fear the Lord, extending even unto their children’s children (Psalms 103:17).

Beloved, the Lord God is plenteous in mercy. Run to Him today and plead for His great mercy. He will not fail you.
