THE IMPORTANCE OF FAITH

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Hebrews 11:6). 

The place of faith in the Christian journey cannot be overemphasized. Truly, it is impossible to please God without faith. Also, the absence of faith will severely limit the possibilities a believer can access in God. For all things are possible only to those who believe (Mark 9:23).

Faith is central to everything about God and our relationship with Him. Equally so, faith is central to everything about your life as a Christian. Faith is what sustains you in the Christian journey. It is what keeps you going when it looks like nothing is really happening and nothing else is moving in your life.

Elijah was praying for rain and he sent his servant to check the sky to see whether there was any sign that it would rain. The servant saw nothing and it appeared that Elijah’s prayer was not working. But faith kept Elijah on and he told his servant to go again and check seven times. At the seventh time, faith won and there was a great rain (1 Kings 18:43-45).

A man brought his epileptic son to the disciples of Jesus for healing. Although the disciples were unable to help, faith made the man stick around till Jesus came down from the mountain of transfiguration. With tears, the man declared his faith and asked the Lord to help his unbelief (Mark 9:24). His faith won and his son was healed.

May faith continually grow in our hearts in Jesus name.
